Hi Friends!

Newspaper is one of the medium which connects us with the real world and gives information of what all are happening in the world beyond our knowledge.

I too read Newspaper regularly and I came across an article I thought is worth sharing here.
Before that let me tell you about the main context.

IQ-  Intelligence Quotient in simple is the ability to think and reason and solve problems in an effective way.


EQ- Emotional Quotient is the ability to understand other people, what motivates them and how to cooperatively work with them.



Now jumping to the news article.

Title - "These five signs determine if you are emotionally intelligent."
            Intelligence might be one of the key elements to reach success; however, your emotional intelligence (also called EQ and EI) is an equally important factor.
But how can you tell if you're self-aware enough to recognize and respond to emotions- your own and of those around you? following are five subtle signs that your EQ is strong, even if it doesn't feel like it.

You say "Sorry."
The danger of saying sorry are many and after a while, the word loses its meaning. However, if you are a person who can muster up a genuine apology when you have done wrong, that's a sure sign of emotional intelligence, according to Hiring for Attitude author Mark Murray.

You question yourself
Questioning yourself probably doesn't sound like a great trait. Confidence is the key, right?
Well there's a difference between overwhelming self-doubt and self-reflection. It is important to hone your EI by asking yourself whether or not certain things need to be said. These questions shouldn't make you doubt yourself, they should simply boost your self awareness.

You never sugarcoat
 This one sounds a bit counter-intuitive. Isn't emotional intelligence all about making other people feel good? Well, no.
 As Murray writes, "Emotional Intelligence requires recognizing emotions in others, but his awareness doesn't mean shying away from speaking the truth or using tricks to try and soften the blow of though feedback. People with emotional intelligence know how important it is that tough messages get heard.

You've gone to therapy
Attending sessions with a good therapist will allow you to become better in tune with your emotions. This, in turn, will equip you to better recognise those emotions in others. 

You're not just a happy person
There's a lot of misinformation out there about emotional intelligence. As psychologist John D Mayer writes, "... journalistic accounts of EI often have equated it to other personality traits. Emotional intelligence, however, is not agreeableness. It is not optimism. It is not happiness. It is not motivation." It is simply being able to manage your own and others' emotions.

EQ or EI and IQ both does define a person to most aspect but it fails to measure musical talent and slew of other abilities which may lead one to many successes in life.
